Yosemite mail flag problem

I have an indicator of 2 flagged messages in my mailbox, however when I open the Flagged folder it shows 1 red flag and 1 green flag, but both are empty. I searched all of my email and found no flagged messages. How do I reset this counter?

This fixed it for me:


1. Quit Mail


2. Go to ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData (access your user library by pressing "go" in the menu bar and holding the option key to reveal your library)


3. Delete the three "Envelope Index" files (Envelope Index, Envelope Index-shm, Envelope Index-wal)


4. Restart Mail and wait for your messages to load (you won't lose any prior messages).
